It’s been a busy few days so this is brief but I couldn’t resist sharing. I hopped on my computer a few minutes ago and saw a pop-up from my anti-virus software, promoting their premium software as the perfect Valentine’s Day gift. Whaaaat? Nothing says romance like internet security? Note to computer nerds: pass on this one. What ridiculous advertisements for Valentine’s Day ideas have you heard lately?

I think it is a great idea. Why does everything we buy have to be a want on v-day? I mean when you think about it, v-day is a purely commercial holiday – do we need a day out of a year for our spouses to say they like us? I just wish people would not look so negatively on a practical gift! It is a much better use of our hard earned money nowadays anyway. If you husband got that for you b/c you blog so you could do what you like to do better, would that be such a bad thing?
You have a point – if it’s something that would mean something to me, and make me feel like he’s being considerate of me then yes, of course. And yeah I know it’s purely a commercial holiday. I just can’t think of many people who would be really excited about the gift of antivirus software – apparently there are some out there though. Thanks for your take on it!
