Sippy Straw Cleaner: Review and Giveaway

sippypackage

The Sippy Straw Cleaner is one of the smartest parent hacks I’ve seen in awhile. I have thrown away way too many sippy cups simply because I couldn’t get the straw components clean. If you’ve had toddlers, you know what I mean. They become gross!  Throwing away sippy cups is also costly and not very environmentally friendly.

Still, I have yet to find a way to avoid needing sippy cups. Most toddlers use them to transition from bottle to cup. I’m all for trying “MacGyver” solutions around the house before buying something, but I still couldn’t get the straws clean.

I was excited that the mom who made this gave me a sample to review. Here’s what I found: the brush has a small, nylon bristle tip that is just the right size for squeezing into those hard-to-reach places. It’s not just for straws, either; my husband and I noticed that it did a great job of getting around the inside rims of the boys’ sippies too.

The stem is stainless and rust proof, and the handle is sturdy. When I used it, the stem had just enough flexibility to allow me to really get in there and clean while the bristles actually got the muck out. It works, hooray!

Many parents are concerned about items being BPA free; no worries here. The Sippy Straw Cleaner is actually FDA approved and meets all the requirements of the US Consumer Product Safety Regulations.

Concerned about the cost? I wondered too. It seems like gimmicks abound with baby products and there’s always some other thing that companies are asking parents to buy; but this one gets my stamp of approval. It is very well priced at $3.98 for two brushes at strawcleaner.com. It also keeps parents from having to continually purchase new sippy cups. Having been through the toddler years with three boys,  I know that really adds up over time. The Sippy Straw Cleaner is a smart, economical solution to a very common problem.
